bf, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity
in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so,
could you please test for this with the latest development release of
Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  Xorg crash

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I suppose that after the latest update of xserver-xorg on my Ubuntu
12.10, it somehow introduced a bug which stops me from reaching unity.

The screen gets black after successful login, then some console output
appears, then the nvidia logo, and then I am presented with the login
  screen again.

I have tried changing the "Driver" to "Vesa" in my /etc/x11/xorg.conf,
  but no avail.

This bug is very serious as it renders my ubuntu installation totally
  unusable in the current state.
