Kane York, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Helpful bug reporting tips: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/897062 Title: Screen 'refreshes' all windows (seems like crash & restart) Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Please note that for the next paragraph, I will use "desktop" to refer to all open windows. At rare, seemingly random points when I am using the system, the desktop will look like it is "freaking out". Next it will bring 'random' windows to the front, then the screen goes blank, then I see my background, then all windows are back in another order. A quick google search returned no obvious copies of this problem, although I did check my .xsession-errors and found the following interesting lines: gnome-session[1532]: WARNING: Application 'compiz.desktop' killed by signal gnome-session[1532]: WARNING: App 'compiz.desktop' respawning too quickly gnome-session[1532]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Sorry.... Followed by a bunch of "initializing" messages. I'm pretty sure that's where the crash happened. Please disregard any and all assumptions I have made if necessary.
