Similar problem on Acer Aspire 3830T Sound does not work on headphones/speakers in ubuntu. When pluggine/unplugging the power cord all sound (not just beep) works for 1 sec Sound works in Windows 7 Sometimes when rebooting Windows 7 a few times sound is left in a "good" state and ubuntu will work (and continue to work until booting into Windows again)
The solution seems to be this: open HDA_analyzer (http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/HDA_Analyzer) In codec-0 outdir[0] and enable[0] must be unchecked Diff for codec 0/0 (0x14f1506c): --- +++ @@ -7,17 +7,17 @@ No Modem Function Group found Default PCM: rates [0x160]: 44100 48000 96000 bits [0xe]: 16 20 24 formats [0x1]: PCM Default Amp-In caps: N/A Default Amp-Out caps: N/A GPIO: io=4, o=0, i=0, unsolicited=1, wake=0 - IO[0]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0 + IO[0]: enable=0, dir=0, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0 IO[1]: enable=0, dir=0, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0 IO[2]: enable=0, dir=0, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0 IO[3]: enable=0, dir=0, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0 Node 0x10 [Audio Output] wcaps 0xc1d: Stereo Amp-Out R/L Device: name="CONEXANT Analog", type="Audio", device=0 Control: name="Speaker Playback Volume", index=0, device=0 ControlAmp: chs=3, dir=1, idx=0, ofs=0 Control: name="Speaker Playback Switch", index=0, device= -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991110 Title: [Aspire 3830T, Conexant CX20588, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Sound only works for a brief second when the power supply is plugged in/unplugged.
