In the past, my complaints about the poor quality of Ubuntu wallpapers were ignored. The main reason given at the time was that we had to dither them all to make them look right on low-quality 18-bit LCD panels.
This is obviously no longer true. Most wallpapers now are not dithered (since saucy). And in the case of ubuntu-touch, we only officially support devices with very high quality 24-bit screens. So we should be more concerned about the quality of the images we present. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-wallpapers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252601 Title: Default (purple) background wallpaper is grainy and low quality Status in The Unity 8 shell: New Status in “ubuntu-wallpapers” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Default (purple) background wallpaper is grainy and low quality.
