First you log in and a pseudo unity + gnome-panel desktop appears, the gnome panel icon in the login is missing like a said in other bug report. To fix it you have to unloging from the desktop, choose the gnome- panel login without effects. then unlog again, and the again log to gnome-panel desktop and then you have a more or less working gnome- panel desktop.
