Title:
[HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD81B1X5, Black Headphone Out,
Front] No sound at all
Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Now running 13.04 neither headphone jack functions. Inserting
headphones to either port mutes the computer speakers and audio over
hdmi work. Issue is limited to the headphone jacks. These worked in
12.10 before the upgrade. I'm not sure if they ever worked on 13.04
as I just tried them recently.
The sound is not muted nor turned down. I have checked the master
sound volumes and nothing added sound.
There is a strange behavior difference between inserting the headphone
and removing in Chrome vs Firefox.
Chrome:
Insert headphone: sound disappears from main speakers (as expected), but no
sound from headphones - volume level indicator stays at 100% when trying to
turn up the volume (as expected)
Remove headphone: sound return to main speakers at 100%
Firefox:
Insert headphones: sound disappears from main speakers (as expected), but no
sound from headphones - volume level sometimes will change sometimes stays the
same.
Remove headphone: sound does not return to main speakers - sometimes
0% sound level sometimes muted or never returns until Firefox is
closed.
