Updating to a newer version is always a huge mission, as there are a lot of packaged extensions which need to be ported and updated along. Also, if the next major version comes out, we then need to remove all reverse dependencies to the previous versions, i. e. port them all again. So we try to avoid introducing e. g. 9.2 into Debian unstable now precisely so that people do *not* start depending on 9.2, as 9.3 is already around the corner (beta2 right now). We have more flexibility on apt.postgresql.org as that doesn't need to guarantee that everything is supported throughout the full lifetime of the corresponding Debian/Ubuntu release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to postgresql-common in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202205 Title: Adding version 9.2 Status in “postgresql-common” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: May you please add Postgresql 9.2 to default ubuntu repositories (I'm using ubuntu 12.10) because many current applications depending on version 9.2 P.S. there is ppa:pitti/postgresql available but I suppose offering 9.2 by default would be nice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-common/+bug/1202205/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
