Brian, I just completed the upgrade to 13.04 yesterday.
Per your suggestion completely uninstalled AOO before upgrade sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org3 sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org-debian-me sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org-hyphenation sudo apt-get purge openoffice.org-ure Then ran upgrade 12.10 to 13.04.
