Dell XPS M1530 Ubuntu 12.04.2 fresh install Low mic volume STAC9228 This problem was fixed in the 2.6 kernel used in 8.04 and 10.04. Dell had recommended installing the backport kernel modules and that fixed the problem in 8.04. Ubuntu 10.04 had the fix in place and no backported modules were necessary. Now, the 3.5 kernel doesn't include the same volume boost fix.
