Hi guys, I have similar issues with a HP dv7 6090ef laptop but I have a workaround. The issues appeared after I upgraded to 13.04.
How to reproduce: When I start the computer I have sound in speakers. When I plug headphones into one of te two front headphone jacks I have no sound. WORKAROUND: I start the alsamixer in a terminal and I unmute the second column (Speaker) and I get sound from the headphone jack. When I unplug the headphones I have sound in the speakers. When I plug them again I have no sound and I have to unmute again from the alsamixer. I did not have this problem in 12.04. I believe this bug is similar and/or a duplicate of: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1158909 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1056669 If there is any way I can help you debug this problem please leave a comment here (I have activated the emails) or contact me directly.
