I do plan to upgrade. I usually wait several weeks or a month before doing it though. Will let you know whether issue is resolved at upgrade.
Thank you. (It comes out tomorrow.) 13.04 comes with LibreOffice 4.0.2 which has a lot of fixes (and some great performance fixes for Calc) in it. (I suggest completely removing Apache OpenOffice before the upgrade). If you are planning on upgrading soon, please report back if that fixes (or changes) this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165440 Title: calc freezes when beginning to edit new or existing spreadsheet Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: start computer launch calc - begin editing new spreadsheet and calc freezes (occurs on first event, e.g. click in cell, type first letter/number), calc window goes grey for upwards of 30 seconds, then unfreezes and normal editing resumes - opening additional spreadsheets or creating other new spreadsheets does not encounter freeze but these actions can only be performed once initial freeze has passed - or - launch calc by double-clicking a spreadsheet - begin editing and spreadsheet freezes (again first event as described above) - often sub-menus are empty after freeze is over, e.g. Insert/Names, Insert/Picture, Data/Filter and etc display submenu stub with no entries. Must close and restart calc to cause submenus to be repopulated ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: libreoffice-calc 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-26.42-generic 3.5.7.6 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-26-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu10 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Apr 6 10:41:47 2013 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-11-12 (145 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120823.1) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: libreoffice UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to quantal on 2012-11-17 (139 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1165440/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165440 Title: calc freezes when beginning to edit new or existing spreadsheet Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: start computer launch calc - begin editing new spreadsheet and calc freezes (occurs on first event, e.g. click in cell, type first letter/number), calc window goes grey for upwards of 30 seconds, then unfreezes and normal editing resumes - opening additional spreadsheets or creating other new spreadsheets does not encounter freeze but these actions can only be performed once initial freeze has passed - or - launch calc by double-clicking a spreadsheet - begin editing and spreadsheet freezes (again first event as described above) - often sub-menus are empty after freeze is over, e.g. Insert/Names, Insert/Picture, Data/Filter and etc display submenu stub with no entries.
