  grip-test no longer responds to input

Bug description:
  The example program 'grip-test' does not appear to respond to input
  from any touch device.

  Tested with a Synaptics PS?2 touchpad, an Apple Magic Trackpad, and a
  Dell XT2 (nTrig) touchscreen.
