hello Christopher, I was using the default driver at first but i have changed to 13.1 i think it is, using catalyst installer I grabbed from here http://www.noobslab.com/2013/04/install-ati-amd-catalyst-drivers-in.html. I have seen the same issue with this proprietary driver as well. To change settings, I just go to dash and type "resolution" to bring up the display settings and change it from there. I then click "apply" and "keep this configuration". It's not a big issue,I just thought it odd. The 1600x900 looks more eye pleasing than default.
