Title:
lightdm doesn't reprompt for password if bad complexity

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
  Release: 12.04

  lightdm:
    Installed: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1.1
    Candidate: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1.1
    Version table:
   *** 1.2.1-0ubuntu1.1 0
          500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64
Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
       1.2.1-0ubuntu1 0
          500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages

I have configure my 12.04 system to use pam_cracklib to enforce
password compexity requirements. I have put this line in /etc/pam.d
  /common-password at the top:

  password requisite pam_cracklib.so
  retry=3 dcredit=-1 difok=4 lcredit=-1 minlen=14 ocredit=-1 ucredit=-1

At the command line if a user changes their password and doesn't meet
the complexity requirements it tells them so and re-asks for a
password. At the lightdm login screen if a user's password has
expired it tells them so and asks for a new password. If the
complexity requirements are not meant it tells them in red letters but
just asks them to reenter the bad password. /etc/pam.d/lightdm
includes common-password at the bottom so I thought this woud be
  sufficient bu it appears not.

Hopefully it just a configuration error on my part but I have spent a
long time seraching the web for references to this problem and have
  found none.

  Thanks for the help.
  Brian
