Hi, may be this comment comes too late, but anyway. I faced the same issue on Precise Pangolin (12.04 LTS), i fixed by
apt-get remove im-switch --purge && apt-get install language-selector- gnome im-switch ubuntu-desktop No more error messages on dpkg!
