Thanks Hakan for this confirmation. @all: I posted a related bug at X.org's bugtracker. Peter Hutterer confirmed that this bug was most likely resolved in the git-version of X.org in late 2012. The original bug report was: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54934
There are two workarounds for everyone who is affected: - Activate touchpad again - Install X.org from the edgers ppa (see comment #6) At this point, there is no need for additional confirmations of this bug unless one of these two suggestions does not resolve the problem.
