Ah, well in that way it was fixed for me as well. But not in this way you mentioned yourself in the bug description:
"There can be no assumption that the 20 or so default enabled startup apps are suitable or useful for all so the means to adjust should be visible" I agree with post #5 and would appreciate if those apps were optional at startup (with this menu item and without digging into the .conf files).
