The i915.ko completely fails to find a connected output. This is handled
more gracefully nowadays, but it is worrying. Does the problem still
occur?

Bug description:
Ubuntu newbie here. On startup, I get a message that it has to use
low-res display - and the display is very odd. It's like it doesn't
have a driver for an HP Touchsmart (desktop). Also I get no sound
(don't know if they are related...). I just upgraded from 9.04.
