Title:
Xorg freeze fglrwx no longer functional after update

Status in AMD fglrx video driver:
  New
Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Hardware is AMD Radeon R6770 Juniper XT from vendor XFS
  Ubuntu 12.04.02 LTS

Fglrx had been installed and working previously but X no longer starts
on reboot after most recent update through apt-get update. Have tried
the most recent versions in the 12.04 repos for fglrx, fglrx-updates,
and fglrx-experimental-9 but all experience same error and X does not
start. The previously working version 12.6 no longer functions when
installed from amd site. Currently using radeon generic driver which
allows system to fully boot and X to start but can only login to
  unity2d session.

Not able to install fglrx successfully from additional drivers tool.

When fglrx is installed and system is restarted grub loader will
display, followed by plymouth bootsplash, and the system then hangs
before X starts. I can login to a cli session using ctrl+alt+F1-F6.

There are several errors that appear when fglrx is installed from the
repositories although successful installation is reported.
  See paste.ubuntu.com/1667470

Installation of v13.1 using amd installer fails as the installer is unable to
build .deb package and seems to indicate installer is looking in the wrong
place for libqtcore4 and libqtgui4. These are located in
/arch/x86/usr/share/ati/lib. It should be noted both packages are already
installed so perhaps this should be being detected and this step bypassed?
  See paste.ubuntu.com/1668129

With fglrx installed from repos X fails to start
  See:
  dmesg paste.ubuntu.com/1667304
  Xorg.0.log paste.ubuntu.com/1667292
  Xorg.failsafe.log paste.ubuntu.com/1667300
  lspci -k output paste.ubuntu.com/1667360
  dpkg paste.ubuntu.com/1667346

  Output of avivotool regs all
  working: paste.ubuntu.com/1668142
  non-working: paste.ubuntu.com/1668139

I have not been able to resolve this issue through current questions,
  bugs, or google-fu. Please advise.
