Connecting an external monitor cause display corruption on my laptop.

Bug description:
I was testing an external monitor on a laptop with Ubuntu 11.04, my
display corrupts when I plug in the external monitor.
This situation is:
1. Zebra lines appear (see attachment).
2. The content is not properly displayed (see attachment).
3. When dragging a window move around that area will get it redraw, making it
look fine, but the problem still exist.
4. Using a different resolution setting does not help.
Test case:
1. Open the display configuration tool.
2. Plug in the external monitor.
3. Move a window around.
4. Switch to another resolution setting, and move a window around.
Attached screenshot was captured from the laptop during this happens.
