Hackel, does the attached screen shot show the issue are describing? Only a small gray box drops down where the menu should be. Tapping alt and typing does not work properly either, so all menu commands are inaccessible. I've seen this in Firefox and Nautilus on two different 12.04 installs. The only way I know to clear the problem is to close all instances of the application and restart it. I don't yet know how to reproduce this issue--perhaps it only occurs after a Compiz crash.
** Attachment added: "bug.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/1036029/+attachment/3521503/+files/bug.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pidgin in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1036029 Title: All menus are empty when using Unity Global Menus Status in “pidgin” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I do not have access to any of Pidgin's menus through the Global Menu. When I hover over the global menu, the menu items are there (Buddies, Accounts, Tools, Help), but clicking on any of them results in an empty stub instead of the menu. The same behaviour is observed from both the primary Pidgin menu and also the conversation menu. The menu items change, as they should, but again the actual menus themselves are empty. This may or may not be related to bug #782537 which only applied to the Conversation Send To menu. I am currently running 1:2.10.6-0ubuntu1+pidgin1.12.04 from the official PPA, so I cannot confirm whether this happens with the current released version in precise. It severely limits the usability of Pidgin.
