It is exactly the same founded in your link: ZTE 3565-Z (from SFR, in France).
I have used it since 2009 and needed to configure usb_modeswitch at the begining. Starting Ubuntu 10.10, the configuration of usb_modeswitch from packages was good to use the device without manual configuration. I used the modem with network manager without trouble in Ubuntu 12.04. The trouble I described have started in 12.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1115061 Title: [quantal] modem-manager doesn't handle usb modem Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Open WifiSyslog.txt to see error log. According to http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-941134-start-0.html it seams to be related with a compilation flag introduced in network-manager 0.9.6.
