@dave945: thanks for the examples, could you add a screenshot showing
the issue? The text seems fine there on the current Ubuntu serie, the
issue might have been fixed in newer poppler/evince versions (in which
case we should look at what commit fixed it and if it can be backported
to the lts)

Title:
filling a PDF form that is rotated 90 degrees yields sideways letters

Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: evince

Filling a PDF form: if the form itself is delivered sideways (rotated
90 degrees counter-clockwise), and View, RotateRight is selected (to
make the form readable), my text entries to the form appear sideways,
  IE rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

For an example, go to http://www.nesa.org/ and open the NESA
application PDF. Go to page 4 of 6. See the sideways (landscape)
form. Rotate it so you can read it, and try filling it out. Your
letters and numbers will appear sideways.

Ubuntu 9.10, Document Viewer 2.28.1 using poppler 0.12.0 (cairo)

  e-mail me for any clarifications.

  very gratefully,

  David Tabor
