So after a couple of kernel upgrades, I'm back to no audio at all. I was getting kind of excited after the last post, because at least the drivers were being picked up. After a few reboots, they were still being picked up which was awesome.
The downside was that no audio was actually going through any of the connectors! So after the latest kernel upgrades, no audio, no drivers. Currently this is what my `uname -a` is giving me: Linux skippy 3.2.0-35-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 5 17:42:16 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I'm really not at the point of providing more output from aplay and all the rest... Surely at this point this bug can actually be classified. I had audio in Kubuntu 10.4.1, and then after switching to 10.4.2 or 3 no more audio. As you can tell, I have been pretty patient, thinking that the 12.04 release would fix this. Sorry to be a little assertive in this post, but you should by now be able to gather that I am trying damn hard to get this going and I don't see how a solution can be reached. I would really like a solution for everybody here, and as it turns out, that will benefit me greatly. This should really be an out of the box working component of the OS, particularly because the onboard audio chipset in this mobo has been around for ages. I don't get where the complication is: config file, type of audio subsystem ? Throw me a bone here guys, this shouldn't be that hard. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067619 Title: onboard sound not available - only hdmi through soundcard available Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: 1) Release of Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 2) Version of package alsa-base: Installed: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1~precise1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages pulseaudio: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1:2.0-0ubuntu1~precise2 Version table: 1:2.0-0ubuntu1~precise2 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 1:1.1-0ubuntu15.1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 1:1.1-0ubuntu15 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 3) What I expected to happen That the onboard sound would not be removed - that it would be available 4) What happened instead Onboard sound was not available ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-32.51-generic 3.2.30 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-32-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
