Kevin O'Gorman, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Regarding your Bug Description: >"1. The note number of the first endnote is formatted differently from the >others, and if there's a way to change it, it sure is not obvious -- I can't >even select that number."
In Quantal, I placed the cursor to the right of the one, pressed Del on the keyboard until the text was on the same line, and the one resized itself to 10, the same as the two, while clicking Del. >"2. The endnotes are forced onto a separate page." As you have placed two issues into one report, this bug report will focus only on 2. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Description changed: - A document with endnotes, attached, exhibits two problems: - 1. The note number of the first endnote is formatted differently from the others, and if there's a way to change it, it sure is not obvious -- I can't even select that number. - 2. The endnotes are forced onto a separate page. Again, if there's a way to change this, I haven't found it. + 1) lsb_release -rd + Description: Ubuntu 12.10 + Release: 12.10 + + 2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer + libreoffice-writer: + Installed: 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 + Candidate: 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 + Version table: + *** 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 0 + 900 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal-updates/main i386 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu3 0 + 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages + + 3) What is expected to happen in Calc is open a blank document -> type + example -> click Insert -> Footnote/Endnote... -> under Numbering click + radio button Automatic -> under Type click radio button Endnote -> click + button OK and an Endnote is inserted one line down from example, which + one may click Enter on the keyboard, moving the Endnote one line down, + as it does in Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Word Version + 14.0.6023.1000 (32-bit). + + 4) What happens instead is the Endnote is placed all the way at the + bottom of the document, and is not movable via clicking Del on the + keyboard. + + WORKAROUND: Use AbiWord. + + apt-cache policy abiword + abiword: + Installed: 2.9.2+svn20120603-8 + Candidate: 2.9.2+svn20120603-8 + Version table: + *** 2.9.2+svn20120603-8 0 + 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/universe i386 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + + Open a blank document -> type example -> click References -> Insert + Endnote and an Endnote is inserted one line down from example, which one + may click Enter on the keyboard, moving the Endnote one line down.
