It seems that I have the exact same hardware config as Steven, and I happen to have the exact same problem. There is a workaround for this when using pulseaudio. In the file /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-headphones.conf, comment the 2 lines below (around line 69): [Element Speaker] ;switch = off ;volume = off
That solves the headphones muting. Now, about the driver fix, I'm curious to know how I can do what you're asking, Raymond. Also, I've just realized that the subwoofer is not working.Pulseaudio only lets me choose analog stereo or surround 4.0. Isn't it a related issue? I've tried a lot of parameters to the snd_hda_intel module, none appears to solve that. I don't know if I have the best driver's parameters but it looks like I have the same as Steven's since I have the same content for *_pin_configs sysfs files (I might be wrong, I don't know anything about the linux audio internals ; so, Steven, if you've managed to get the subwoofer working, I'm eager to know how! I'm a ubuntu noob. Speakers work fine, but plugging in headphones = no audio. Take it out and speakers work fine again. Checked alsamixer, saw that the head phone jack was "muted" (MM) and 0. If I make it (00), and up the volume, the headphones work. Unplug headphones and plug back in, and it's muted once again (MM).
