Public bug reported: I am unable to get working video on my MacBook Pro 8,2 with a Radeon HD 6600M running Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzel). I attempted to install the driver (2:9.000-0ubuntu3) in the following manner:
sudo apt-get --purge remove fglrx* sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-amdcccle sudo aticonfig --initial -f When I complete the last step part of the output is: PowerXpress info: Diagnostic output from /usr/lib/fglrx/switchlibglx: update-alternatives: warning: forcing reinstallation of alternative /usr/lib/fglrx/ld.so.conf because link group x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf is broken update alternatives: warning: not replacing /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules with a link When I rebooted, I was forced to use low-graphics mode. I expected to boot into Unity with graphics. It is worth noting that this problem occurs in EFI mode. When I boot in BIOS mode, Unity does start. However there are still periodic xorg crashes. ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 6600 ati efi fglrx macbook proprietary quantal radeon ** Attachment added: "xorg.conf.broken" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088016/+attachment/3454878/+files/xorg.conf.broken ** Tags added: efi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088016 Title: fglrx does not work with Radeon HD 6600M in Ubuntu 12.10 (EFI mode) Status in “fglrx-installer” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I am unable to get working video on my MacBook Pro 8,2 with a Radeon HD 6600M running Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzel).
