You can close this, we have moved all computers over to Pidgin. Works with no issues at all.

Can receive though the other way around! I open 'Contact>Send File' and then a window pops up so I can select a file to send. I select a file and hit the Send button. Nothing ever happens after that. No error, no request to recieve on the intended recipient's machine. I started Empathy via command line and still no errors/feedback.
