Title:
[Realtek ALC892] volume-meter and audio flickers until mute - then
  playback returns after some minutes

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm having a problem with my onboard Intel soundcard:

The audio works fine, but after a few minutes (5-10), the audio
suddenly starts to crackle, like someone's moving a broken audio
cable. The volume-meter in the GUI (xfce), as well as the volume-
meters in alsamixer suddenly start toggling mute/unmute like crazy,
and the levels also keep changing. Like if some weird ghost-user would
be hammering the keyboard shortcuts in alsamixer... ;)

After some minutes, the sound returns in the same fashion: crackles,
stuttering and the volume-meter GUI going crazy.

Does anyone else have this problem?
