Title:
NetworkManager failing to regain wireless connection after changing
  user in Ubuntu 9.10

Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Hi,

1.- Using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala
  2.- Results from "apt-cache policy network-manager"

    Installed: 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1
    Candidate: 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1
    Version Table:
   *** 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1 0
          500 http://mirrors.nfsi.pt karmic/main Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3.- When I boot karmic and start a session, the NetworkManager will
very quickly connect to the preferred (default) network connection.
However, several people are using this machine. When that initial
session is closed and another user tries to open his/her own, the
NetworkManager should connect to the default connection as well.

  4.- However, it fails.

The only way to fix the problem is to trick the system to try and
connect to another wireless network in radius. Once it fails, try to
connect back to the default connection, and it works. Obviously, we
have a workaround, but it is frustrating having to go through this
  workaround several times everyday.

We have other machines running Jaunty which don't have this problem.
