I can also confirm the same error, just after a 12.10 upgrade.
I also found that mails below some limit (like 800-1000 plain ASCII
chars) send OK, but longer ones fail, even if the mail is still plain
ASCII.
Rebuilding Evo ('stable' 3.6.1 from the Gnome download site), did not
help either, so I have created the following bugreport for Evolution:
