Title:
  video corruption after xrandr

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I have my thinkpad linked up to an external monitor through an Advanced
Mini-Dock. My thinkpad has "switchable graphics", but I have "discrete
graphics" set in the BIOS. I.e., it's using the ATI chip to power the
graphics. The Integrated Intel chip isn't physically wired to the DVI port
through the Mini-Dock. I'm using the radeon driver, though the intel driver is
loaded too according to Xorg.0.log

I run a pair of scripts to reset the display when docking/undocking:

  when I dock, I run:
  xrandr --output DVI-0 --off
xrandr --output DVI-0 --primary --left-of LVDS --auto

  When I undock, I run
  xrandr --auto

If I do not have to run the script, my display is fine, but after
running either, my display is gets 1px black lines randomly, and
especially if I use a media key on my keyboard, or mouse wheel in an
application with no scrollbar, or have lots of screen updates to do.
After a while, the corruption can get so bad that I have to restart X,
after which the corruption goes away.

This didn't happen on 9.10 or 9.04, but only since upgrading to 10.04.
