I have created the log and attached it.  To reproduce the bug i shut
down the computer and then re-booted it.  When the operating system
loaded this time the small audio symbol shows a speaker with 3 dashes
instead of the speaker with sound ")))" and clicking on it launches
the sound settings menus without device data and with the buttons
inoperable.  I hope this helps!  David
