schnere: i tried to reproduce the bug on latest daily Kubuntu 12.10. With default kubuntu greeter (lightdm-kde-greeter), adding the option doesn't activate anything and there is no manual login prompt, but that's probably the expected behavior from this greeter and it's not related to this bug. When changing to unity-greeter (you need to install it as it's not installed by default in kubuntu), manual login prompt works as expected.

Option is working fine in Ubuntu 12.04, however adding it on 12.10 results in a buggy login screen: "Login" text doesn't disappear, and starts to flood the screen. Also, entering a username makes the input box disappear, with no indication it's waiting for the password, and no way to go back (session is opening if you enter a correct password). Tested in latest daily cd image (12.10 Ubuntu) amd64. To reproduce the bug: #add the option to lightdm echo "greeter-show-manual-login=true" | sudo tee -a /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf #restart lightdm sudo service lightdm restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter/+bug/1025652/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
