I have tried to mute the sound with the blocked screen and it worked. It is not possible to pause the player or change the volume but I believe it is already a good step.

Since the keyboard shortcuts are used frequently to reduce the loudness in an urgent way (I, for example, was listening songs with my baby child and one specially loud one started to play) I believe it would be a decent improvement to allow us to control the sound volume (and the playlist, for that matter) with the locked screen.
