Contacts that go offline aren't hidden again

Bug description:
I've set empathy to hide offline contacts. Although, when someone
that's online go offline, the contact stay there, but as Offline.
Changing "Hide offline contacts" option doesn't affect this. They only
vanish if I restart the app.
I'm running Empathy 3.4.2.3 under Mint 13 with MATE 1.2.
