Public bug reported:
Hello
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 on an emachines G625 Laptop. But, Ubuntu is only
working if an lan caple with internet connection is plugged in.
This means: If the lan cable gets plugged out (and the computer notices this -
with showing a disconnect message), the whole system freezes. I can only move
the curser, but doing nothing with it or something else (like open a program
with the cursor, or with a shortcut).
The problem appears after logging in to the standard ubuntu user interface. The
start screen is working without an internet connection.
I can see only the background image after logging in without internet
connection.
The same problem appears in the "user defined session".
Ubuntu 2D works without an lan cable connection, and also the console session.
But in Ubuntu 2D, the wireless lan doesn't work. The available connections are
displayed, but the computer can not connect.
Before Ubuntu 12.04, i had Ubuntu 10.04 installed on this emachines laptop.
10.04 didn't have this problem.
I installed 12.04 with upgrading 10.04, and also with installing it from an
live usb stick and live cd. Nothing makes a different.
The live system also doesn't work without a lan connection.
