Title:
Wi-Fi adapter gets disabled on resume and at other times; restarting
NM fixes it -- Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG iwl3945
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Binary package hint: network-manager
Wireless adapter is reported as "device not ready" and cannot be
enabled. This happens only sometimes, it can happen after the laptop
resumes from hibernation, but sometimes it happens if the wlan adapter
cannot connect to a network, sometimes even happens after the computer
has been under very heavy load for some time. Restarting the Network
Manager solves the problem, and the wireless connection works normally
again.
