  gedit crashed with signal 5 in _XReply()

Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Double clicked on a text file and gedit crashed, restarted it double
  clicked again and nothing happened. Tried to use 'open with' and gedit
  was not listed a primary file to open text files but in additional
  progs instead, which when tried crashed also. There was no problem
  immediatly after apt-get update, upgrade, autoremove, distro-update,
  autoclean, reboot: everything was working like clockwork but a few
  hours later crash city.
