Title:
network-manager continuously drops connection under load Huawei E172
3G USB modem
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: network-manager
I use mobile broadband, with a Huawei E172 3G USB modem stick on
Vodafone.
Network-Manager keeps repeatedly dropping my internet connection, when
under heavy load - eg, when downloading a bunch of Ubuntu updates via
Synaptic, or streaming a Flash video on YouTube.
This is not reproducible every time, but does happen every day.
I have 3 machines, and get this problem on all three. All three
machines dual-boot with either Windows XP or Fedora 11. None of the
other operating systems show this problem behaviour, so I don't think
its a problem with my hardware or my network provider (Vodafone).
I enclose my syslog (see below).
I believe the these lines may give a clue as to whats going on:
Feb 14 19:23:12 COOLERMASTER modem-manager: mm_modem_base_add_port: assertion
`port == NULL' failed
Feb 14 19:23:12 COOLERMASTER modem-manager: do_grab_port: plugin 'Generic'
claimed to support tty/ttyUSB1 but couldn't: (-1) (unknown)
