Title:
software-center causes apt-xapian-index cronjob to produce unhelpful
message
Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Recently, my machine started sending me cron emails from the apt-
xapian-index cronjob. These contained the single line:
No handlers could be found for logger "softwarecenter.distro.Ubuntu"
Some investigation reveals that the underlying message attempting to
be logged here is:
downloadable icon is not supported for archive:
lens-askubuntu_0.5_all.deb'
(and also for various other packages)
The problem is that software-center installs an apt-xapian-index
plugin, which imports software-center code without ensuring that its
logging requirements are configured.
