Philippe; could there be extra settings installed on your system to
limit access to configuration?

Can this issue be reproduced on Ubuntu 12.04?

Thanks.

Title:
Cannot properly edit system-wide VPN connection in NetworkManager
  (jaunty 9.04)

Status in Network Manager GNOME Applet:
  Fix Released
Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Using Ubuntu Jauny 9.04. Confirmed with amd64 on my desktop, and i386
  on my laptop.

I cannot edit an existing VPN connection properly.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Install any (or all) of the NetworkManager VPN plugins (like
network-manager-openvpn, network-manager-vpnc, or network-manager-pptp)
  2) Start nm-connection-editor, either from the console or right-click
nm-applet, Edit Connections
  3) Click VPN tab, and create new VPN connection. Ensure all settings are
correct, especially those in the "VPN" tab
  4) Ensure "Available to all users" is checked and click Apply
  5) Click the newly-created VPN connection, and click Edit

  Result:

The connection is edited, but the "VPN" tab is missing. Only the
  "IPv4 Settings" tab appears.

Also noted are errors on the console:
  (nm-connection-editor:6859): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_notebook_append_page:
assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (child)' failed
  (nm-connection-editor:6859): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_sensitive:
assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

If you uncheck "Available to all users", then save and re-Edit, the
  VPN tab will appear.
