Hey Matthew, do you have any opinion on that? Seems to be a side effect
of the "software updater" auto-index-update-on-start change that
happened in quantal

Title:
Install Updates button in Details panel leads to redundant check for
  updates

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When I open the Details settings panel, I can click the Install
Updates button on the bottom right when updates are available. When I
click that button, Update Manager opens and (as is the default
behaviour) begins checking for updates. This does not fit nicely with
the label on the button, and the activity is redundant: the system
already checks for updates when the Details panel is opened, and the
button says "Checking for Updates" while that happens.
