After I uninstalled the libreoffice dmath extension from synaptic, I could not 
open any (writer) documents anymore! The "template already exists" dialog was 
shown, and once I click on OK, LIbreOffice crashed. 
Removing ~/.libreoffice and ~/.config/libreoffice solved the problem.

Up-to-date Ubuntu 12.04, LibreOffice 3.5.4.2

  1. Launch Impress.
  2. Choose "From template".

  What happens: An error alert appears, "LibreOffice 3.5" - "templates
  already exists."

  What should happen: No such error message.
