Public bug reported:

I've used alt+f2 'upgrade-manager -d' to make some test upgrades from an
lucidmachine to precise.

After all packages were downloaded the procedure began. During
installation some modal dialogue appeared and they were empty.

The letters shown were only some empty quadrangles.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
