Title:
resolv.conf not updated with new address when client lease renewed and
server dhcp option 6 (dns server) has changed
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: network-manager
Steps to reproduce:
1. Obtain lease, observe nameserver address in /etc/resolv.conf.
2. Change dns server address provided by dhcp server in dhcp option 6 to
clients
3. Wait until release renew occurs.
4. Observe that /etc/resolv.conf has not been updated with the new value for
dns server.
5. Manually disable and enable connection using network manager.
6. Observer that /etc/resolv.conf has been updated by network manager.
Notes: it is useful to set a relatively short lease time, 5-10
minutes, and to capture packets on the connection.
