This has nothing to do with gdm so I'm reassigning it to something a bit
closer.

Status in “ubuntu-sso-client” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  By not using the correct naming of your products you confuse your
  users. It is not clear that the login required for the product Ubuntu
  Software Center is the same login as Ubunut SIngle Sign-on.

  Suggestion: change the text in the dialog of Ubuntu Software Center to
  clarify that actually required is the username and password for Ubuntu
  Single Sing-on
