sounds more of a lightdm issue since LightDM itself does not start so
Unity is not to blame here.

Also instead of KDM try GDM and make sure to run the command 'unity
--reset' in the GDM session. you seem to have enabled some non standard
plugins from CCSM as well.

** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: New

** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

Title:
unity broken after update of packages

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Hi, I just let Ubuntu 12.04 upgrade packages, but after that,

lightdm stopped to work - black screen (I have to use KDM to login to
  Unity)

  and

Unity doesn't respect font and icon settings.

For me, it seems like it needs some packages that probably had been
uninstalled before, but I don't know which packages and reinstalling
of unity and ubuntu-desktop doesn't work.

  Thank you
