Title:
the copy dialog should not keep its minimized state on new copies
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
When you copy files from a folder to another and the copy dialog
appears with a progress bar, it has a number of issues:
- In the first place, it is not treated as a normal window. This means
that it won't show up on the bottom panel in Gnome. Or if you have awn
in Unity like me, set up to show each window individually, it won't
show up on awn either. Also, atl+tab will never show it. This may be
by design but it is a wrong design.
- Second, sometimes the window will appear on the background, behind
other windows, but this may be because of the more general bug in
Ubuntu which happens with ANY new window
- Third, sometimes it just doesn't show up. Even if you minimize one
by one all the other windows, you'll never find it.
- If it does show up but you happen to minimize it (which you can
because it has a minimize button) you will never be able to find it
again, because of issues one and of the following ones:
- Fourth: if you click on Nautilus's icon in the launcher on the left
of the screen (Unity), there is even a "show copy dialog" option in
the context menu, which is there just to make fun of the user: it
WON'T show up the copy dialog
- If you click on the laucnher icon when nautilus is already on the
foreground, it will show you all nautilus windows to select one of
them, as it does with any other application, but the copy dialog is
not among them; this is I guess a consequence of the first issue.
- And last but not least, if you have minimized it once, it will never
show up again even after it has finished and disappeared and you copy
other files. You'll have to restart the computer to have it work
again. This may explain the third issue.
The first issue and its consequence were already there in 10.10, but the way
Unity works makes it worst.
