Title:
Unity does not startup in x64 system with NVidia drivers after update.

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After updating the 12.04 Beta 2 system yesterday April 16th the Unity (and
Gnome?) stopped working.
I end up with totally empty desktop without any controls.
Right clicking desktop opens the context menu ok.
I tried to create folder on desktop and I can see the folder now, but still
no controls.

If I select Unity 2D in the login, the desktop and all controls work.
There were 400MB updates yesterday, so I can not say which update may have
caused this.
